For those who are not part of my church, I have asked our church to embark upon a 21 day fast in preparation for Sunday, October 30th. Of course Halloween is on October 31st. I know that many people have lot of innocent fun around this time. However, what some may not know is that the occult is very active during the entire month of October especially on Halloween. So…as I was thinking of some things we could do in our church, I thought this would be great time to have a service focused on spiritual warfare. On Sunday, October 30th, we are having what I am calling Victory Sunday. It will be a service of spiritual warfare. We will have a time of worship, prayer, healing, and tearing down strongholds.
To prepare our congregation for this, I am asking everyone to fast for 21 days. Each day, I am going to post a few things about fasting. Today, I want to remind us that our flesh can inhibit our spiritual life. I don’t mean flesh in the sense of sin, but flesh in the sense of our natural body. When we satisfy our physical body, the contentment removes any sense of urgency which can keep our prayers light instead of fervent prayers. It is not that food is evil, but the contentment can keep our prayers surface. When our physical body is not content, we are more in tune with our spirit which helps our prayers.
I am going to be fasting dinners at night, but there are all kinds of fasts. The key is to have a time when your physical body is not contented for you to pray. Today, just decide when and how you are going to fast. Blessings!
