Fasting Day #7

Well, how is your fasting going?  Have you started?  I wanted to take today to remind you that the Kingdom of Heaven has come.  John the Baptist and Jesus Christ both preached repentance for the Kingdom of God is near.  We are not fully in the Kingdom of God as we will be when this life is over.  However, the Kingdom of God has been laid down on top of this earthly kingdom.  We know that Satan is the king of this world right now.

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (NIV)
2 Corinthians 4:4

But as we read about the god of this age, Lucifer, we see that he only has dominion over those who do not believe.  But we are not part of this earthly kingdom…

But our citizenship is in heaven (NIV)
Philippians 3:20

We are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven.  We live by the laws of Heaven and we enjoy the resources of Heaven even now.  This is what the Lord meant when He said the Kingdom of Heaven is near.  We have access to it right now as believers, citizens of His Kingdom.  But how?  How do we access these resources of Heaven while still living on Earth?  Well, I am so glad you asked :).  It requires a breakthrough.  Our physical body is part of this earth and thus it is part of this earthly kingdom.  To reach up and take hold of the resources of Heaven now, we must be forceful about it.  This is part of what fasting is.  By fasting, we symbolically and to a point literally deny the earthly part of our selves to participate in the divine nature of Heaven’s Kingdom.  The Kingdom of Heaven does not happen naturally in our lives because we are still living in Kingdom of this earth which is under the dominion of the evil one.  But with effort, spiritual effort, I can take hold of the power of Heaven.  In Heaven, there is peace.  I can take hold of reconciliation in relationships.  In Heaven, there is no sickness.  I can take hold of healing.  In Heaven, there is absolute wisdom.  I can take hold of this wisdom now.  In Heaven, there is no depression, anxiety, and worry.  I can take hold of His peace now that transcends all understanding.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. (KJV Strong’s)
Matthew 11:12

We must be deliberate in our spiritual life.  If there is no effort put forth to increase our faith, our love, our peace, our patience, our devotion to the Lord, it simply will not happen.  The miracles of God wait for those who fight violently the spiritual battles of this world.  We fight with our salvation, our faith, the Word of God, fellowship with other believers (church), prayer, and fasting.  Fight violently and see what the Lord does in your life.
